P.M. Insulations:
Fire Protection
P.M. Insulations can provide a full range of fire protection systems for your buildings. Our partitions offer a high melting point, making them an ideal material for use in fire insulation applications. Our partitions are also designed to restrict fire penetration from one fire zone to another. In addition, filling the partition cavity with fire slabs can considerably increase the fire resistance of the partitioning.
We also offer fire protection solutions for steel structures – our fire insulation slabs are approved for fire protection of load-bearing steel and concrete. Fire insulation is also necessary to protect the frame structure, which carries the loads and prevents the building from collapsing in the event of a fire.
Our fireproof insulation materials insulate both heat and sound, efficiently insulating and restraining fire. In addition to traditional construction, fireproofing insulation is used in very demanding projects in order to increase fire safety, including use in ships, building lifts, airports, fireplaces and chimneys, as well as large production and warehouse buildings.
FEATURES & BENEFITS
There is an increasing focus on building compliance including fire safety. It is therefore imperative that your building is compliant with fire safety standards.
Fire Stopping
Fire Stopping is typically used in buildings to prevent the spread of a fire. The fire is contained by creating fire resistant compartments throughout the building, either horizontally or vertically, which subdivide the building. In addition, it must be ensured that buildings are fire stopped to restrict both vertical and lateral fire spread. This is done by fire stopping all openings and gaps within a building.
Flame Retardant Coatings
Flame Retardant Coatings are applied and used as a protective layer on the surface of a building and have a similar appearance to a paint finish. This acts as a first defence to reduce the spread of a fire and assists in reducing the immediate impact of heat damage.
Intumescent Coatings
Intumescent Coatings are used in conjunction with other fire protection materials. An intumescent is a substance that swells as a result of heat exposure, thus increasing in volume and decreasing in density. Intumescents are typically used in passive fire
